Nippon Shokubai Europe is pleased to announce the arrival of its containerized CATAQUA™ pilot unit at its site in Belgium, marking an important milestone in the commercialization of the company's Catalytic Wet Air Oxidation (CWAO) technology for industrial wastewater treatment. CATAQUA™ is based on Nippon Shokubai's proprietary catalyst technology and advanced oxidation process, developed to address some of the most challenging industrial wastewater streams.
The arrival of the pilot unit is the result of months of engineering, procurement and project execution, supported by close collaboration between Nippon Shokubai Europe and its partners. Over the coming weeks, the unit will undergo installation, commissioning and comprehensive performance testing in preparation for industrial demonstration campaigns.
Designed as a fully containerized system, the pilot unit can be deployed directly at customer sites in Europe, enabling treatment trials under real operating conditions. This approach provides industrial companies with the opportunity to evaluate the performance of CATAQUA™ on their own wastewater streams and supports the development of tailored full-scale solutions. CATAQUA™ is particularly suited for wastewater streams containing difficult-to-treat organic compounds and can contribute to more sustainable wastewater management strategies.
The pilot program forms an essential step in the market introduction of CATAQUA™ and supports the generation of operational data required for the design of future commercial installations. Engineering and scale-up activities for full-scale projects are supported by Worley, Nippon Shokubai's engineering partner for project implementation.
