Surface control of substrates is a crucial technology to maximize the efficiency and longevity of materials. Nippon Shokubai's Multi-functional hydrophilic particles are modified acrylic submicron particles created using our proprietary particle synthesis technology. By realizing a low-viscosity water dispersion, they have improved the formability in aqueous compositions, which has been an issue with conventional hydrophilic organic particles. As a result, hydrophilic properties can be expected to be imparted to various coating agents and films. In addition, there are also types that dissolve under mild conditions, such as weak alkali and room temperature, so there is little damage to plastic materials, and surface roughening and pore formation are possible.

Key features

  1. Fine spherical particle and size control: Spherical and sharp particle size distribution. The size is adjustable from 25 nm to 800 nm
  2. Low viscosity dispersion in water: Provides good dispersibility in resins
  3. Hydrophilic level control: Hydrophilic control equivalent to silica or PVP
  4. Dissolved in weak basic solvent (Pore-forming type): Enables pore formation under mild conditions

Applications

Hydrophilicity control of metallic or plastic fine structures such as aluminum fin of heat pumps. By using Nippon Shokubai's multi-functional hydrophilic particles, the drain ability can be increased. These particles can be well formulated in aqueous coatings and offer improved resistance to cleaning, with minimal change in the physical properties of the base substrate.
